i mean other than the "everyone looks at it at the gas station'. i mean why people like them. multiple reasons really, and i think we'll all hit them individually.
i really don't bleed jeep. i'm not a jeep fan really. i just like this range of models. why?
for me,it the simplicity and ease of changing the personality. these are the Harley Davidson of cars. 30 years of production, with nary a body change means they are so easy to change, yet keep the factory feel. grille swaps, interior changes, engine ranges.
you can take a late model, make it look 1970's-or even 1960's- yet retain the later refinements.
and then everyone looks at it at gas stations....

I like the way they look, even the ugly ones with the pignose on em'. They are easy to work on and I love the WTH is that look people give you when they pas you on the freeway.

It's simple for me. I found a TON of Meth in the first FSJ I bought. Now I just buy them hoping to find more causedaddyreallysneedhisfix!
Or...
I think they are the best looking light truck made from their era to current. They also fit me well. I'm 5-6. I can crank the seat off the back of the cab and still be comfortable in these things. I also love the fact that (in the Kaiser era anyway) you could order just about ANYTHING you wanted right from a Jeep authorized Special Equipment book. Not many other mfg's offering factory wreckers, dump beds, winches and such.

I bought a 80 J-10 brand new, 1st new car I ever bought. I just loved how it drove and handled. (Ha...handled). I loved the looks of it too. I like the WT look of my Cherokee and the trucks, and I like the look of the Waggys and the NT too. I don't know why or how one brand of 4WD would be better in snow, but that truck was the best in snow I ever had, including a Bronco and some trucks. It would turn tighter in 4WD without bucking too. My 82 looks better than a 82 Bronco or Blazer. Maybe it helps that the styling never changed, because the interest covers alot of years and different models. Maybe the basic design never changed because it worked well? Or maybe AMC was broke and didn't have for development. They are kinda like Scouts in that way. Who do you think has a more loyal following, Scouts or FSJs? I don't know what it is. I am drawn to them, always have been. And I still want a truck and a Waggy.

Funny my first FSJ was an '80 J10, that was very well used. 360/727/219 with 4.10's. That truck was great in the snow and ice, and it never had problem finishing the gas I would put in it's tiny 15 gallon leaking tank.

Been driving them since 1976 and haven't owned any other type of Jeep. It's just a Thing. I also like the mix and match to make your own flavor with different year parts. Phoebe Too is an example of that. 77 frame, running gear and steering column, 78 body, 86 wing windows, 75 seats and tail light assemblies, 76 5 slot wheels, 73 grille and badges, 69 script badges, 79 brushguard...

Offroad capability is cool but the style and retro design are my favorite points, I also pieced together my favorite bits, 79 chief with early NT decals and a muscle grille. Looks mean drives nice.

Yeah, seems lotsa 79's have survived around here, most of the cherk's I see are 79's... Probably related to that being the apex of production.

Those are some cool pics. I love old building and their architecture. I think i'll go to the old Packard plant in De-rot after I get mine on the road and take pics. I'll need back up when I go. Anybody want to volunteer?

I think they are the best looking trucks ever built. Plus they are pretty reliable when taken care of.

I have always loved station wagons since the old man's '58 Olds and '64 Galaxy. I just love the throw back, all American look and feel of these beasts.

One saved my life in 98. Was a 79 4 door cherk, anything else and I wouldn't have walked away. And I do enjoy the horrified " Omg it's coming this way " looks I get. And the gas station thing
