Recap of what happened. Firestone tried to lift my truck by the rocker panels. The front sagged about 4". Busted a brake line between the prop valve and the master. I ran out screaming put it down put it down. The guy who did it said, "I'm sorry" and I said, you're sorry?! You a ***ing idiot". He tried to deny it but I quickly shot that down. The fenders bent, the brake line broke. Nothing else that I can see. They're putting in writing what they did and I got free tires and an alignment. That's all I can do at this point. We were on our way to baby animal day at my wife's friend's farm on Long Island.

When you say 'alignment', I'd have somebody put it on a frame jig to make sure it's still square/true. On their dime, of course.
But then, if they picked it up by the body, the frame is probably ok…..'
Jeez, where do they get these guys?

I don't know where they get them but wherever it is they should leave them there.

Discovered this when I was leaving. This is a anger/frustration move. Has nothing to do with the front of my truck almost falling off. Turned around and had the manager take a look. He agreed it looked fresh and typed me up another invoice including the damage.

Check for debris in the transmission pan.
They really torqued that thing.

Actually the rockers aren't that damaged.

I'd check the steering rag joint over really good, if the column got that stressed so did that rag joint. I had one fail once, not too fun losing the ability to steer a 4500 chunk of steel.

I checked. Seems intact still. I replaced it about a year ago. Maybe that's why it held up.

It's pretty squeaky now going over bumps. Most likely screwed up body mounts, right?

It looks like they used it to haul firewood and crankshafts too. Or does it always look like that?

Oh thank you! Instead of doing restorations like you prissy guys I faux finish trucks to give them that vintage used look. Firestone actually saved me months of distressing work.

Firestone manager said he needs to talk to the district manager about cutting me a check. The body shop estimate was 1800. The column repair estimate was 675. Honestly I'd be happy if they gave me $1000.

The guy called me this morning and they're turning this over to their claims department. Supposed to call me by the middle of the week.

Stick to your guns, they f'd up and will pay. They may try to haggle, and offer less or free work @ their shop. Just tell them you need the $1800 to fix the damage they did, and no way/no how are they ever touching your vehicle again.
If they give you any crap, just mention small claims court. $1800 will be far far less than them paying a lawyer for advice/sending someone to court. Might take a 'bit, but they'll cut you a check.

They gave my wife the runaround for several weeks. After a visit to the store and a not so friendly chat w/ manager, she got a check.

That's awful. I can't imagine what kind of idiot would lift a full frame vehicle by the rockers. Dude should not be running a lift, or working on vehicles.
Glad they where descent in taking care of you though. You ended up with $1500 and free tires?

Yep. 1500 and free tires. Pretty good I think. There was actually very little damage.
